Dipmeters are a very important group of wireline tools, which includes the state of the art For-mation MicroImager (FMI). They were first developed to compute structural dip from a single borehole. They have progressed to furnishing much more. They will be discussed first from a historical develop-ment and then by applications. These applications will be highlighted by referencing important areas of activity and key players.
